Interesting cardiac calls
We had a call kick out for a 60+ yr old woman, where her husband had told 911 that she was having diabetic problems. Pt had a BP of around 156/105 with a HR of around 110SR, A&Ox4, with a CC of "MY toe won't stop itching!" Pt also had a BG of 225. After putting her on the monitor Pt was found to have Sinus Tach @ 112 with ST elevation and a LBBB. A STEMI was called and PT was transported ALS. At the hospital however we we're talked to by a doc about not calling ST elevation on a strip with a BBB as a STEMI. Basicly because "A BBB can mimic ST elevation" and that it would tick the CATH lab off if we call in a STEMI on a BBB. Anyone have thoughts on this?
BTW this is my second Geriatric, Female, Diabetic whose only presentation during an MI was Foot Discomfort. Just interesting...
